Counting of votes in the Gippsland by-election on June 28 is continuing and although the poll has not been officially declared, it is apparent that The Nationals have won the seat.

I would like to publicly acknowledge all of the candidates for the professionalism and respect for each other that they displayed throughout the campaign. It was a hard fought campaign but it was contested in good spirit by all candidates.

I would also like to thank Gippslanders for their support.

It is an honor and privilege to be elected and it is something that I will never take for granted.

Once the poll is officially declared, I will start my new role with offices in Sale and Traralgon.

My first commitment is to the people of Gippsland and I am determined to fight for our fair share of government resources.

By putting locals first and working together, we can build a better future for Gippsland.
