Maffra Secondary College budget blunder
A State Government media release announced that Maffra Secondary College would receive funding for a much-needed redevelopment but hours later, the Treasurer John Lenders claimed it was a typing mistake.
The Labor Government claims the money was meant for Maffra Primary School and the secondary college is going to miss out on the promised money.
I believe the primary school should still receive its money and so should the secondary college.
The school community has been ripped off by the Labor Government and I don’t believe its promises that the money will come in future budgets.
We all accept that the Treasurer has made a mistake – but he can fix the problem by providing the $5.7 million immediately and allow the secondary college redevelopment to proceed.
There is a budget surplus of $828 million – the Treasurer should do the decent thing and help bring the facilities at Maffra Secondary College into the 21st century.
The staff, students and parents deserve better.
